Estevan police called to two collisions, investigating assaults

Police also recovered a stolen bicycle Aug. 12.

ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service members responded to two separate motor vehicle collisions in the morning of Aug. 12.

The first incident occurred at the intersection of King Street and Spruce Drive, and involved two pick-up trucks. A northbound truck turning west onto King Street was struck by an eastbound truck, causing it to flip onto its side.

The driver of the overturned vehicle required assistance to exit the vehicle and was treated by Estevan EMS at the scene. One of the drivers was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

Shortly after, a second collision took place at the intersection of Fourth Street and Second Avenue. A southbound truck collided with an eastbound car while proceeding through the intersection. The car sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene. The driver of the truck was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention.

Police were called about a stolen bicycle in the evening. There were no suspects but a description of the bike was provided. A short time later, the EPS bike patrol unit located the abandoned stolen property, and it was returned to its owner.

There were two reports of assaults that occurred last night. Members responded to the east end of the city to a report of an assault with a weapon and a common assault. Both incidents are believed to be related and under investigation.
