ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service is reminding the public to be aware of scams.
According to the Aug. 13 police report, an Estevan resident reported falling victim to a scam, resulting in the loss of a substantial amount of money. The individual had received a phone call from someone posing as a grandson in need of legal assistance. The money was sent via mail.
EPS members are working in co-operation with Canada Post in an attempt to intercept the delivery before it reaches its destination.
Police received a report of a possible impaired driver. Identifying information was provided. Officers attended the reported location but were unable to find the vehicle. It was found much later during the shift at the residence of the registered owner.
A report was received regarding an erratic driver after a pedestrian was nearly struck at a crosswalk in central Estevan. A licence plate number was provided and police attended to the residence of the registered owner to identify a suspect. The matter remains under investigation.
Police continue to receive complaints of erratic driving in the Walmart parking lot. Members attended and spoke with several young adults and teenagers regarding the concerns. The public is reminded to drive cautiously, especially in parking lots where pedestrian traffic is high.
Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between roommates. All involved parties were spoken to regarding their options for living arrangements and the ongoing concerns.
While clearing a disturbance call, officers were flagged down by a member of the public who reported hearing what sounded like two individuals screaming and arguing nearby. Members checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the voices reported.
Members were dispatched a second time to the same residence for another domestic disturbance between roommates. Additional information was received and the investigation is ongoing.
The Estevan Fire Rescue Service requested EPS assistance at an apartment complex in the north end while they investigated a potential carbon monoxide leak. No issues or safety concerns were found during the check.
