ESTEVAN — Progress continues to be made on the downtown revitalization project in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Fourth Street in Estevan.

In an email, ASL Paving wrote the 1100-block is 90 per cent complete. Tree planting and tree surroundings still need to be finished.

Due to the amount of work that has been completed, the Estevan Downtown Business Association was slated to have its annual Street Dance in 1100 block, but the event had to be moved indoors to the Power Dodge Curling Centre due to forecasted rain.

The 1200 block on the north side is 80 per cent finished. Paving stones in front of the Orpheum Theatre, along with trees and surroundings, are to come, and light poles need to be erected and commissioned.

The south side of the 1200 block is 60 per cent complete. Work remains on Silva cells, light pole bases, paving stones, trees and surrounds, while light poles need to be erected and commissioned.

Asphalt for the two blocks is 70 per cent complete.

The four-way stop at the intersection of Fourth Street and 13th Avenue will remain, although it will be wired for traffic lights if traffic volumes are sufficient.

According to ASL, the project is tracking to be completed for the major construction aspects by the middle to the end of September, but the final inspections usually take longer than people think. The public should still expect work and workers to be around until the end of October.
