OXBOW — The Town of Oxbow has asked residents and businesses to conserve water until further notice, following a lightning strike that caused electrical damage at the water treatment plant early July 27.
"This unexpected event has temporarily reduced our system’s capacity to treat and supply water at normal levels," the town said in a post on its Facebook page. "While emergency repairs are underway, it is critical that we all do our part to reduce water usage to ensure essential supply is maintained."
The town says people can help by taking the following steps:
- Avoid watering lawns and gardens;
- Postpone washing vehicles and driveways;
- Limit household water use by taking shorter showers, running only full loads, and turning off taps when not in use.
"Your co-operation is greatly appreciated as our crews work hard to restore full operations," the town said.
SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
