Two new cases of COVID-19 in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan

There are two new cases of COVID-19 to report in South East Zone 4, according to the daily figures on the provincial COVID-19 dashboard.

It brings the active number of COVID-19 cases for Zone 4 up to four.

There are also three new COVID cases in South East Zone 2, which is north of Zone 4.

A total of 52 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Saskatchewan on July 29, bringing the provincial total to 49,882 cases.

The other new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 9; Far North Central, 2; Far North East, 3; North West, 6; North Central, 4; North East, 2; Saskatoon, 9; Central East, 1; and Regina, 6.  Five cases are pending residence information.

No new deaths were reported today.

Another 16 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 48,892. One of the new recoveries is from the South East.

A total of 412 cases are considered active, including 14 in the South East.

There are 43 people in hospital. This is the lowest number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients since Nov. 9, 2020. Thirty-four are receiving inpatient care, including one in the South East.

Nine are in intensive care: North Central, 1; Saskatoon, 5; and Regina, 3.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 44 (3.7 new cases per 100,000).

There were 1,564 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on July 28, including 58 in the South East.

An additional 6,019 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,400,844. There were 472 new doses from the South East.

Seventy-five per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 63 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health has announced that it will start posting province-wide COVID updates once a week, starting Aug. 3. The provincial dashboard, which contains information for each of the 32 sub-zones, such as South East Zone 4, will be updated daily.

The Mercury will continue to post updates when there has been a new case or a new recovery for South East Zone 4.
