An Estevan man has filed a lawsuit against the Estevan Police Service, the City of Estevan and the Estevan board of police commissioners. Kristofer Donald is seeking $250,000 in damages after he was bit by police dog Max during an arrest last year.

A former Estevan resident was among the strong advocates for the new provincial organ and tissue donor registry. The Government of Saskatchewan has officially launched an organ and tissue donor registry at www.givelifesask.ca.

Two more people have filed their nomination forms for the 2020 civic election in Estevan. Councillor Shelly Veroba, who is wrapping up her first term on Estevan city council, filed her nomination papers on Thursday afternoon.

The special weather statement that was in effect for the Estevan area has been lifted. The advisory was issued at 3:34 p.m. Friday, for conditions from Sunday to Tuesday. The advisory ended Monday morning.

Bob was in intensive care and not doing well. Sometimes he was alert, but mostly he slept. When his friend, Lee, went to visit, he was not sure what to do.

There are four new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Sept. 4, bringing the total to 1,638 reported cases. There is one new case in each of the north central, central west, southwest and south central zones.

One of Estevan’s longest-standing businesses is going to reopen next week. The Orpheum Theatre will return with hot-buttered popcorn and the action thriller Unhinged, starring Russel Crowe, on Sept. 11.
