In what has become a regular occurrence in southeast Saskatchewan as of late, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region. Both the Estevan and Carlyle jurisdictions issued advisories at 3:54 p.m.

The Southeast College has announced that its students have received $16,500 in scholarships and bursaries from its Estevan campus.

Southern Plains Co-op member/owner allocations totalled at $2,451,019 for the period from Feb. 1, 2019, to Jan. 31, 2020. But unlike previous years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the cheques will be mailed out to members/owners.

For the second straight day, there is one new case of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, the Ministry of Health said Monday, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 779 cases. The new case is located in the far north region.

The Orpheum Theatre in Estevan is one of 62 Canadian businesses selected for a $10,000 grant, as part of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Canadian Business Resiliency Network’s Small Business Relief Fund.

Estevan residents received some much-needed rain during the overnight hours. Multiple thunderstorms rumbled through the Energy City, with the first one hitting around midnight and more coming later.

One of Estevan’s food trucks tested people’s eating abilities Saturday afternoon. Beatz Eatz, which operates the Rolling Stove food truck, held the Bust your Gut eating competition at the Hidden Valley Golf and RV Resort.
