Saskatchewan has five new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health said Thursday, bringing the provincial total to 582. Four of the new cases are in the far north (the La Loche area) and one is in the Regina region.

The carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at SaskPower’s Boundary Dam Power Station captured 48,150 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) in April, according to information released by SaskPower on Wednesday.

The Estevan Fire Rescue Service (EFRS) was called to a wildland fire Tuesday at about 1 p.m. The fire occurred south of Outram and just north of the U.S. border.

The Estevan Motor Speedway (EMS) has announced the cancellation of its next two race programs, but they’re still hoping to have something for drivers this month.

Traffic flows are going to be affected on a number of Estevan streets on Thursday. Wellock Road from Dieppe Crescent to Victory Road will have restricted lane access with a single lane for westbound traffic due to frost boil repair.

The Carnduff RCMP continues to handle a variety of calls, in addition to those associated with COVID-19. Sgt. Warner Ignatiuk with the detachment said that for the most part, it’s been business as usual.

Michael Brown is excited to be back into the field and begin seeding, even though the wet field conditions are going to pose a challenge this year. Brown has nearly 5,000 acres of land nine kilometres south of Carlyle.

One of the reasons we bought our current house is that it had so many trees in the yard. Seven of them line the front sidewalk. Well, there were seven. A couple of years ago, a big storm came through town and the wind snapped one of the trees.
