The Estevan RCMP has had to handle some calls related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they have had other calls in the community, too.

The powerful long horns crown the head of this beautiful steer living in the Estevan area. With one horn growing up and another one down this steer, with the snow-white back, looks like a magical creature that just stepped out of a fairy tale.

Saskatchewan has five new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 573, the Ministry of Health said in a news release Tuesday afternoon. All of the new cases are in the far north (three in the Beauval area and two in La Loche).

The Envision Counselling and Support Centre has announced that they will be starting their re-opening process, in accordance with the Saskatchewan government guidelines.

It appears that Estevan City Hall will remain closed to public access for a little while longer.

The Estevan Fire Rescue Service is conducting a controlled burn Monday afternoon. The prescribed burn covers the Chinook bay, King Street and 14th Avenue areas in the valley (see the map below).

Leader of the Official Opposition Ryan Meili penned a letter directed at Premier Scott Moe, asking to begin negotiations around resuming legislative business, including the presentation of a full budget.

The expansion of the Estevan Police Service’s building is moving forward. The Estevan board of police commisioners has approved a $2,159,000 tender from Quorex Construction. The bid came above the budgeted amount of $1.

An Estevan student is one of four young people from across the province to receive a Saskatchewan Agriculture scholarship this year. Marci LeBlanc earned a scholarship for $2,000.
