The recent warm temperatures have prompted the Estevan Fire Rescue Service to issue a fire ban for three local rural municipalities.

One day after the Mercury reported that Estevan Bruins leading scorer Dylan Smith has left the team, it is confirmed that another core player won't be back. Bruins captain Josh Jelinski has decided not to play this year, mostly for personal reasons.

Only two weeks before the start of Bruins training camp comes the news that right winger Dylan Smith is leaving the team. Smith, 20, will play for the Connecticut Oilers of the Eastern Junior Hockey League this season. He is already in Connecticut.
