The Government of Canada has released the national Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Action Plan, including a chapter from SaskPower. The plan outlines the progress and ongoing efforts to develop and deploy SMRs across the country.

The schools in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division will remain at Level 2 for the time being, the board of trustees heard at their Dec. 9 board meeting.

Estevan city council has awarded a tender that affects one of the landmark buildings in the community.

The students at Spruce Ridge School in Estevan had a virtual Christmas pageant this year. Principal Cheri Haberstock said it was more important than ever to do something to lift the students’ spirits during what is a different kind of Christmas.

The support for the Estevan Kinette Club’s PJ Project this year was so enormous that they even had to ask some people and companies willing to donate to direct their money to other charities.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. has donated $10,000 to the Hillcrest Community Program in support of local families. Canadian Natural has been a part of this community for many years.

Another shipment of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine is expected to arrive in Saskatoon as early as Dec. 21.

The Oxbow Community Childcare Centre is holding their Christmas Raffle fundraiser once again this year. This will be their second year holding this event. Due to the pandemic they were unable to hold all their other fundraisers this year.

Seven residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One new death in the age group 40-49 was reported in the South East zone. One new death in the age group 60-69 was reported in the North Central zone.
