The Assiniboia and District Arts Council held a successful annual Mistletoe Art and Craft Sale on November 3-4. The event attracted over 700 visitors who braved wintry weather over the two days of the show.

The Assiniboia and District Remembrance Day commemoration was held at the St. George’s Catholic Church Hall on November 11. Members of the Assiniboia Chapter of the Royal Canadian Legion entered the hall in procession to begin the event.

The First and Second World Wars had a profound effect on Canada as a fledgling nation. Assiniboia and the surrounding communities played an important part in the war effort. Many young men and women volunteered for service and many did not return.

A little snow didn’t stop Halloween fun in Assiniboia on October 31. Halloween carnivals were held at the schools and businesses got into the act with staff donning costumes and handing out treats during the day.

The community fundraiser for the Kincaid Fire Department was a huge success on Saturday, October 14. The event included a supper, live and silent auctions, and a cabaret and raised over $111,000.

We’ve all had them: bad days, good days, “dog days” - you get the idea - but this past week I’m celebrating one my most extraordinary “days to remember”.
