It was a homecoming for Archbishop Donald Bolen, recently-appointed to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina. The Archbishop visited the Our Lady of Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg on November 27.

The Assiniboia Alliance Church cele­brated it’s 75th anniversary with an ex­tended worship and thanksgiving service on October 30, which was followed by a fellowship luncheon. The guest speaker was Rev. Dr.

Sewing machines were busily humming at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church in Assiniboia on November 16. Members of the women’s auxiliary and other volunteers embarked on phase two of their pro­ject to sew dresses for impoverished children in Mexico.

For Mara Speck living in Assiniboia is an adventure. Speck is from Zug, Switzerland and she in on a year-long Rotary international student exchange. She is attending school at the Assiniboia Composite High School and ex­periencing school life.

Remembrance Day on November 11 is the biggest day of the year for the Assiniboia Branch No. 17 Legion. The Legion’s membership has been active selling wreaths to local businesses and poppies through its poppy drive.

Bruno, the miracle dog that endured a near-death experience in the bottom of an abandoned well for 27 days, is regaining weight and strength thanks to a very strict diet that is being designed by veterinarian nutritionists.

The Rockglen commun­ity held a “Desserts Make a Difference” fundraiser for the Saskatchewan division of the Canadian Cancer Society on November 18. The event took place at the Rockglen Commun­ity Hall.
