The Weyburn Public Library will be active again in January, once their Christmas holidays are over. When the library re-opens on Friday, Jan. 5, they will immediately start up their “Waking the Stacks” program.
“Walking the Stacks” will be held every Friday and Monday morning, starting at 7:30 a.m.
Weekly programs such as the quilters, knitters and carvers club will also return to their meetings. Quilters meet on Mondays at 9:30 a.m., knitters meet on Tuesdays at 1 p.m., and Carvers meet on Fridays at 1 p.m.
A new Meditation Class will be held every Monday evening at 7 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring their comfy clothes, a blanket or mat, and enjoy learning the basics of different types of meditation.
Fit After 50 will be held every Tuesday, at 2 p.m. An Active Parent group will meet at 12 noon on Wednesdays from January 14 to February 18. This is a parent program designed to help parents with effective ways to discipline, communicate, teach values and handle every day problems.
The genealogy society meets every third Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Weyburn Writers Guild meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. But, in January, there will only be one Writers Guild meeting, on Tuesday, January 20.
There will be an Alzheimer’s Coffee Group meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. The Sharing the Journey cancer support group for women will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a book club meeting on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m.
The Artist Trading Cards group will meet on Wednesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. There will be a special Communication 101 session on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. Residents will come and learn effective ways to improve their communication skills.
