As you, good citizens of Weyburn can see, this is no small undertaking. The nefarious plans include a whole gang of collaborators and innocent dupes. We have now examined the powers behind the throne and penetrated the depths of the ArtFarm IV compound to expose the two firebrand leaders with their radical plan of light hearted and educational art appreciation.
This week it is time to examine some of the minions of this dubious clique. Consider the commanding figure that is Jaynie Himsl.
An ex-commando with a shady background she trains relentlessly, sometimes running up three kilometers per day and scaling Weyburn’s highest peak several times each week! She is an imposing figure with her shaved head and combat boots and moves with the deadly grace of a cougar.
And a hunter she is, for it is her duty to raise money for the ArtFarm IV organization. Any number of innocent members of the commercial and service clubs of Weyburn have been approached by this shady individual and have made contributions after having endured grand promises of recognition and thanks, and some rather veiled threats, it is said.
Many citizens of Weyburn will remember the shock and awe they felt last summer with the endless cycle of decoration in the downtown core. As many as thirteen locations were targeted in a wave of yarn bombing where public property was transformed in the dead of night with amusing and decorative displays that affected many innocent lives. Yes, gentle readers, That Jaynie Himsl.
Jaynie is active in the community and you may meet her. Be careful. While no one has been hurt or overtly threatened, the best advice is to give her money or gifts until she leaves.
If Jaynie is the hand-out-for-cash of the organization then Max Himsl (no relation to the author) must be considered the Ideal Artist, the model of perfection, towards which all artists strive. With mannerisms and a personal style that exude sophisticated worldliness and a wittiness that charms all who greet him, Max (no relation to the author) moves easily in the rarified atmosphere of the art world where his masterpieces command prices in the hundreds of dollars.
The style of his sculpture defies categorization but runs the gamut from uniquely weird to oddly bizarre, Max (not related to the author} produces art appreciable only by the most sophisticated and cultured personages.
“While it is true that it is difficult for the general public to understand what makes art great or ordinary, there is an excellent method for the uninformed art buyer to easily discern the quality of a piece,” says Max (not related to the author). “Look at the price tag. If it is a large number written in small, fancy letters, well there, that’s it.”
When asked about his work on the B.O.D., he raised an eyebrow. “Work? Well, they asked me to call a cab. Is that what you mean?” The Diva will condescend to make a personal appearance at ArtFarm IV while on his way from his gallery opening in Tokyo to his current home in Manhattan. He will offer a few of his more easily portable sculptures for sale at ArtFarm IV and confirms that he will have a magnifying glass available for price tag reading.
