The Estevan Arts Council started a busy week of activities by hosting drop-in crafts for children on Monday at the arts tent currently set up at the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum.

Local artist-in-residence Diana Chisholm guided young people through making their own seed bombs. Children took paper pulp, formed it into a ball and rolled it into wildflower seeds. The seed bombs can then grow in a garden.

Participants crafted Juniper leaf paint brushes on Tuesday.

The drop-in sessions will continue on Thursday, when children will weave with sticks, wool and wildflowers. Then they will paint with different soils from around Estevan on Friday.

The sessions are being held in conjunction with the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Estevan.

The Arts Council has had a couple of other activities during the week of the Games. Children created chalk logos in the arts tent on Tuesday night. They took the stenciled logos of the different Games sports, and, using spray and sidewalk chalk, they added their unique spins to the logos.

They are also running a photo marathon with the athletes throughout the Games. The athletes are given a list of words to interpret through photos during the week. The photos will be incorporated into a collage at the end of the Games.
