Award winners from this year's Domestics Show

The Estevan Exhibition Association's domestics show that was part of the Estevan Fair was once again well-supported and well-attended. The show was held on Tuesday and Wednesday inside the recently-renovated exhibition building.

The Domestics Show that was part of the Estevan Fair attracted a large number of entries, and people to view the artwork.

The Estevan Exhibition Association's domestics show that was part of the Estevan Fair was once again well-supported and well-attended.

The show was held on Tuesday and Wednesday inside the recently-renovated exhibition building. Entries were received in a variety of categories, and showed off the talents of local residents.

In the culinary arts division, the search for the best chocolate chip cookie, sponsored by Mr. Mike's Steakhouse Casual, was won by Elsie Alexander. Murray Shauf was second and Adeline Oleshko was third.

Five different divisions were offered for the best vintage recipes, sponsored by Southern Plains Co-op. First place in matrimonial cake went to Janice Wagner, top spot for apple pie went to Erin Alexander, first place in carrot cake went to Elsie Alexander and the best depression cake went to Doris Yergens.

There weren’t any entries for best Christmas fruit cake.

In the needlework division, the best in show award and the people’s choice award for quilts were won by Jasynn Monteyne.

As for the crafts disciple, first place finishers were: Mike McCurdy in repurposed project, Lee Moore in paper creation, Sherri Blackburn for the do it yourself project, Valentine Morhart for oil or acrylic painting and Emily Alexander for pencial or charcoal drawing.

In junior crafts, the winners were Daniel Gervais in pencil or charcoal drawing, and Emma Morhart for handmade gift.

In photography, Tamera Huber won the best in show award, Emily Tarnes won the people’s choice award and Marleen Vicary won the Fountain Tire top points award.

In the Best of the Best School Art competition, sponsored by the Orpheum Theatre, the winners were: Sophia Klyne of St. Mary’s School in kindergarten; Alivia Waldegger of Sacred Heart School/École Sacré Coeur in Grade 1; Kurt of Hillcrest School in Grade 2 (last name not available); Greycin Biette of Westview School in Grade 3; Marina Trayu of St. Mary’s in Grade 4; Miranda Sandquist of St. Mary’s in Grade 5; Ariadne Nagel of Hillcrest in Grade 6; Olivia W. of St. Mary’s in Grade 7; and Ella Gudmundson of Westview in Grade 8.
