Planning for the third annual fundraiser for cystic fibrosis is underway. The "Legendary Night for an Extraordinary Fight" is taking place on March 5 at McKenna Hall and co-organizers Mike and Cara Weger have another excellent evening of entertainment planned.
This year, the fundraising duo has arranged for Weyburn's Amanda Jane Duncan to start off the evening's entertainment followed by country music rising star Codie Prevost.
Prevost grew up in Archerwill, Saskatchewan and he kick started his music career in 2005. He is currently the 2010 SCMA "Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year" and "Male Vocalist."
"This isn't like your typical benefit dinner," explained Weger, "The meal and the entertainment are worth the cost of the ticket. We try to put on an entertaining evening with the hope that the happy attendees will donate generously to Cystic Fibrosis Canada."
In addition to the supper and entertainment, there will be some raffle items again this year and at least one piece of sports (Roughrider) memorabilia to auction off. Weger encourages individuals and businesses interested in donating raffle/auction items to contact Cara. The net proceeds from the evening's events will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada (recently Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) at the Great Strides Walk fundraising event that the Weger family and their friends will be participating in on May 29.
Tickets are being pre-sold and can be purchased at NSWB Law Firm, Brady's House of Flowers, or by contacting Cara Weger at 842-2486 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets are $50 each and reserved seating is available for tables of eight.
