The deadline for applications for the annual Helen Davidson Music Award is April 30, 2015. The $2000 music award is open to Weyburn and area residents who studied in the area and are involved in the study of music in any of its forms.
Application forms for this award are available online at www.helendavidsonmusicaward.com/applications. An accompanying DVD is required for the application as well.
Helen Davidson, for whom the award is named, was a 50-year member of the Registered Music Teachers Association, and taught piano in Weyburn for 70 years. She was an avid supporter of the Music Festival and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as organist and choir director for over 60 years.
Past recipients include Meagan Milatz, Chelsea Woodard, Britney Alexander, Mikyla Jensen, Brayden Jensen, Lisa Frederick, Kjel Sidloski, and Thomas Schiller. Awards have been presented for piano, flute, voice and saxophone.
