The date and location have been finalized for the first Living Room Live concert to be held in Estevan.

It will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the home of Molly Heier at 1933 First Street, at 7:30 p.m. The cost for admission is $20, with all the proceeds going to the performers.

Initially the concert was to have a classical guitarist, but the plan has changed to be a saxophone player, Matthew Robinson, accompanied by pianist Lisa Rumpel.

Robinson holds degrees from the University of Manitoba and the University of British Columbia in saxophone performance.

His achievements include winning the 2015 University of Manitoba concerto competition, the 2016 Amam N. Leckie Memorial Trophy, and most recently taking first place in winds at the 2018 Canadian Music Competition finals. He has performed as a soloist with both the University of Manitoba wind ensemble and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

Praised for her artistry and stamina, Rumpel is passionate about communicating classical music to a variety of audiences. As an alumnus of the Franz Schubert Institute, Vancouver International Song Institute, Opera Nuova, University of Manitoba and Brandon University, Rumpel is equally comfortable in art song, chamber music, opera and choral music.

Since completing her master of music in 2015, Rumpel has been an active member of the Manitoba Music community. An avid recitalist, she enjoys performing in house concerts, inviting members of every background to enjoy classical music. She is associate director of Living Room Live.

Future performances will be with classical guitarist Nolan Powell and vocalist Caroline Buckingham. Anyone who would like to be included on the Living Room Live email list and wants to attend these events can call Shirley Andrist at 306-634-9302.
