The Estevan Arts Council has announced that Prairie Debut’s presentation of the Ladom Ensemble will be the next performance in the Estevan Concert Series.
The Ladom Ensemble will perform on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
According to a news release for the performance, the Ladom Ensemble is the best example of musical integration that defines this country. Drawing from Persian, Balkan, South American and Turkish music, these four musicians effortlessly integrate these musical genres and blend them into a contemporary classical framework.
The Ladom Ensemble engages the audience through their energetic performances, mingled with the musicians’ cultural and musical stories that further the audience’s overall experience. With a unique combination of instruments consisting of accordion, global percussion, cello and piano, they create a distinct yet accessible sound that appeals to people of all ages.
Original compositions such as Raha, Noor and Veles I and II represent the ensemble’s vast musical works of Middle Eastern persuasion, while their own arrangements of Brahms’s Hungarian Rhapsody, Piazzolla’s Libertango and even Weird Fishes by Radiohead give familiar works a refreshed musical diversity to share.
Advance tickets are available for discounted prices at Henders Drugs, the Ticket Pro website or at the Estevan Arts Council’s office. Regular priced tickets will be available at the door.
