Four years ago a group of artists decided to create an outdoor art market called ArtFarm. The first year 750 of the community attended. In 2015, the event boasted an attendance of 3,000.
“We were all just amazed watching the line of cars as they just kept coming. What a feeling of excitement! We hope to surpass that this year,” said Heather van der Breggen.
ArtFarm IV has over 40 artists this year showing and selling their art. The main stage has several local musicians including Private Drive as the closing performers.
They welcome special guest Louie de Roo from Liverpool (Belgium). There is an additional stage in the kids corral featuring musicians as well as a magic show, Ukrainian dancers and dance classes.
Residents can check out the schedule on ArtFarm Face book and website artfarmfestival.com. Children activities include horse-drawn wagon rides (weather permitting), face and fence painting.
“Make sure your children wear paint appropriate clothing as the paint will be flying,” said van der Breggen.
The ArtFarm food canteen will once again be serving the ArtFarm signature gluten-free organic turkey sausage and a new addition of ArtFarm Beans. Several other local groups will be on site raising funds for their group.
“ArtFarm welcomes other non-profit community groups to participate at ArtFarm as fundraiser for their organization.”
ArtFarm’s success is proof that creation matters, live music speaks, Saskatchewan people are the optimum teammates and the most spectacular backdrop is the big sky of the Saskatchewan prairies.
ArtFarm IV will be held on Saturday, June 11 at the van der Breggen farm from 1 to 8 p.m. Admission is a toonie, with children ages six and under getting in for free. Van rides will be available every hour from the City Centre Mall.
To get to ArtFarm, head south on Highway 35, west on TWP080 and turn south at the white barn.
