Great music and a fun evening out on the town will be offered during the Harvest Fling cabaret, a fundraising event for the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn.
The Harvest Fling will feature The Milkman’s Sons playing rock, and Weyburn’s own Private Drive playing country. The event will be held at the Weyburn Legion Hall on Saturday, September 24, starting at 8 p.m.
This is the official return of the Harvest Fling for the Young Fellows Club. The last time the Harvest Fling was held was five years ago.
The Milkman’s Sons are an experienced, professional 4 piece band based out of Regina, Canada that puts on a very entertaining show for young and old alike. Over the past year they have performed at a number of major venues in Canada and USA including: The House of Blues in Chicago, Williston North Dakota July 4th celebration, Craven Country Jamboree (10,000 people), Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeo Finals Cabaret, Mosaic Place Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Casino Regina, Conexus Arts Centre and River Rock Casino in Vancouver.
The Milkman’s Sons have been described as not just another cover band, but more of a “tribute band” — recreating the music that people love to hear with amazing accuracy. The Milkman’s Sons perform a song list made to please a wide variety of people, including classic and modern rock, blues and country, plus a few surprises. The band has earned its place by delivering a great evening of fun every time they hit the stage.
The Milkman’s Sons are professionals who deliver the same show and energy whether performing to thousands of people or a couple of hundred.
The ban members of The Milkman’s Sons include Ken Kupchyk, lead vocals and bass guitar; Micky Kupchyk, rhythm guitar and vocals; Brett Johnstone, lead guitar and vocals; and Terry Anaka, drums.
Mickey likes to joke that, “My brother Ken and I don’t look don’t look much alike, therefore one or both of us is probably The Milkman’s Son.”
Brett Johnstone lived in Weyburn for a number of years and went to high school there.
In December 2015 The Milkman’s Sons released their first CD titled “A Night To Remember”. It was a recorded live at the Casino Regina show lounge. The band has been donating the proceeds from the sale of the CD to Alzheimer’s research.
The Milkman’s Sons play at a number of fund raiser events each year. “We love to play in other cities and small towns throughout Saskatchewan. We’ve met so many great people”, Ken Kupchyk says “They always come out and have fun which makes it even better for the band.”
Tickets can be bought in advance for $20 a person from any member of the Young Fellows Club or at New Age Electronics, or will be available for $25 at the door.
Drinks at the cabaret will be $5 each, and all those attending must be 19 years of age or older.
All funds raised at this event will be kept in the community to support the projects of the Young Fellows Club.
Some of the projects they have supported included the newly-rebuilt paddling pool and the water spray park at the Don Mitchell Tot Lot, and the outdoor pool at the Weyburn Leisure Centre, as well ongoing support of classes at the Signal Hill Arts Centre and swimming lessons.
