Photography has always been a passion for Elisa Fawcett. Now she will have the opportunity to showcase her work in an exhibit at the Signal Hill Arts Centre.
“My exhibit is called ‘In the Moment’. I really like to be versatile with my photography,” said Fawcett. “I like do everything and everything. My exhibit has landscapes and nature, there are also examples of storms and using a funky twirl photography.”
“This exhibit will give you insight to what I am really about and I look forward to sharing that with everyone,” said Fawcett.
The exhibit opens on May 1. There will be a special reception on Thursday, May 5 at the Signal Hill Arts Centre art gallery at 7 p.m. The reception will feature food, beverage and and opportunity to discuss photography and common love for art.
The exhibit will run until the end of June. Most of the pieces in the exhibit are colour photography.
The art gallery is located on the second floor of the Signal Hill Art Centre.
The exhibit is just a small piece of the many other pieces that Fawcett has in her collection. “My photography is all about expression.”
While she won’t be showcasing any portraits in the exhibit, Fawcett said that she truly enjoys making portraits stand out with personality by doing them in black and white.
“I like that you can make photography your own. If you take a photo, you can keep it in colour, or you can change it to black and white. By using photoshop, you can manipulate your photos however you want,” said Fawcett.
“Taking pictures allows you to keep memories forever. It is nice, since those photos will help you keep those memories close.”
This exhibit is the first time that Fawcett has showcased her photography at a local gallery.
“I am interested in meeting everyone who might be interested in the same stuff that I am,” she said. Fawcett really encourages anyone who wants to know more about her photography to attend the reception on May 5.
“Within the last few years, I have really grown to love photography.”
