Taylor and Jayda Cameron will take to the Riddell Centre stage at the University of Regina, for the Do It With Class Young Peoples' Theatre production of "Dear Edwina".
This production involves more than 20 young talented performers from Regina and southern Saskatchewan. Dear Edwina runs Wednesday to Friday, Oct. 22 to 24. Tickets are available on the Do It With Class website.
"Dear Edwina" is a heart-warming children's musical that tells the tale of 13-year-old Edwina Spoonapple, who directs and produces musical productions as a way of providing "Dear Abby" type advice to her family and friends.
"The show is about these kids in Paw Paw, Michigan and every Sunday afternoon they all go to Edwina's house and they do a show for everyone in the town," explained Taylor. "They give advice, and answer letters from other people in the town."
"One of the main themes of the musical is Edwina's desire to be in the "Advice-a-palooza" festival, and one of the people who work in the festival have come to Paw Paw to watch the show," said Taylor.
Jayda will portray Aphrodite, a young girl who writes to Edwina about her picky brother. Taylor will portray Mary Sue Betty Bob Spoonapple, Edwina's 15th cousin twice removed.
Both girls are excited about the play, especially since the production will be staged in the Riddell Centre. "The set is really cool, and I am really excited to see the set," said Jayda.
There were some changes to the Do It With Class company this year, as Robert Ursan has been named artistic director, replacing Andorlie Hillstrom who stepped down after 20 years in the position.
This also might be the last junior production for Taylor, as she will shortly be moving up to the senior level of Do It With Class. On a yearly basis, the company has one junior production, one senior production and then a full company production.
Both Taylor and Jayda are busy with many other activities. In December, the two performers will take the stage at the Regina Performing Arts Centre for Regina Little Theatre's production of "Charlotte's Web". Taylor is cast as the lamb, and has already started attending practices. Jayda is cast as a baby spider.
Also, Jayda and her mother Tanya Cameron are featured in a Co-op Game Day commercial, which is being aired in communities in western division of the Canadian Football League. Jayda and Tanya are two Rider fans, who are getting ready to hold a Rider party for a sick brother/son in his hospital room.
Other teams featured include the Calgary Stampeders, the Edmonton Eskimos and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
As both Jayda and Taylor have been in other commercials, they knew a lot of the people who were cast in the Co-op Game Day commercials, as all the cast were from Saskatchewan.
The commercials are played twice per game on TSN, and will be aired until the Grey Cup.
