Tenille Arts has been nominated for “Female Vocalist of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for the 2017 Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) awards. The winners of the awards will be announced in Saskatoon on Saturday, April 1.
“I’m so incredibly grateful to be in the final ballot for ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’. This has been such a great year,” said Arts on her Facebook page. “I released my self-titled debut EP, my first single, and my first music video for ‘What He’s Into’. I’m excited to celebrate country music with everyone.”
Leading the nomination total for the SCMA awards were Jess Moskaluke (Langenberg) and Alex Runions (Regina) with five nominations each. Following with four nominations is the Hunter Brothers (Shaunavon). Samara Yung (Yorkton), Codie Prevost (Saskatoon) and Darlene Tuleta (Melfort) all had three nominations each.
Tenille is Weyburn-born performer who now lives in Nashville. During December, she debuted songs from her newly-released self-titled debut EP in concert at the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre. The evening also featured songs which didn’t make the album, new material that she has written but hasn’t released yet, and with some covers, such as of Alannah Myles rock tribute to Elvis Presley, “Black Velvet”.
Tenille made the move to Nashville a year ago, and she has been busy with songwriting and recording, and has videos for viewing on YouTube which has garnered over 775,000 views.
