Volunteers, entertainers needed for 31st annual Communithon

The 31st annual United Way Communithon is scheduled for October 26 and 27 at the Weyburn Comprehensive School Cafetorium.

The 31st annual United Way Communithon is scheduled for October 26 and 27 at the Weyburn Comprehensive School Cafetorium. The planning committees are busy recruiting volunteers to help with the production of the 33-hour event, which will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday with members of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Cadets and other dignitaries. The Communithon theme song, 'Let's Work Together', as well as a new poem from Jean Fahlman, will again be part of the opening ceremonies.

School children will be performing during the day on Friday, but the committee is still recruiting volunteer entertainers for Friday evening and for Saturday.

Popular events, such as the Silent Auction and 50/50 draws, along with the displays set up by the United Way Member Agencies, add to the enjoyment of the audience. There will be a canteen set up again this year for those who want to enjoy a snack and coffee while they watch the performers.

Anyone interested in volunteering or entertaining the audience can apply online at weyburnunitedway.com.
