The Annual meeting of the Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club was held on May 6 and the following decisions were made: in July and August regular play will be once a week on Monday evenings; the fees will remain at $3; the directors volunteered to forego payment for their services. The new Executive is Manager - Barry Mactaggart; President - Marg Stewart; Vice President - Bernie Dufour and Secretary / Treasurer - Diane Bell.
On May 13, Chuck Widdis and his daughter, Charlene Wimmer, made a donation of $1000 to the Duplicate Bridge Club in memory of Joyce Widdis who passed away in January. The club is grateful for the generosity of the Widdis family.
In regular play, May 2 had three tables and placing first were Jim Brown and George Gillies while Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart finished second.
On May 6, with four and a half tables playing, Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel took top honours; Marg Marinos and Audrey Warawa placed second; John Whitell and Royden Wallin were third; and Warren Betker and Keith Eichel were fourth.
There were three tables on May 9 and finishing on top were Jim Brown and George Gillies while Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel came second.
May 13 had five tables that played and Diane Bell and Andy Dumba were first place finishers; Keith Eichel and Millie Nimegeers were second; Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart were third; and Erskine and Mildred Sandiford were fourth.
Three and a half tables played on May 16 and Bernie Dufour and Marg Stewart finished on top; Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel were second; and Jim Brown and George Gillies came third.
On May 20, with four and a half tables playing, Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart had a strong game finishing first; Gord Bell and Marg Stewart finished second; Carmen Vilness and Andy Dumba placed third; and Jim Brown and George Gillies were fourth.
Three tables played on May 23 and Barry Mactaggart and Diane Bell placed first while Jim Brown and George Gillies came second.
May 27 had five and a half tables and Jim Brown and George Gillies finished on top; Keith Eichel and Millie Nimegeers placed second; Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart were third; and Lucie Nickel and Lydia Nimegeers were fourth.
The last game of the month on May 30 had three tables and in first place were Jim Brown and George Gillies, followed by Royden Wallin and Chuck Widdis in second.
The summer social will be held on Monday, June 17 at 6:00 p.m. with a roast beef dinner at the Wheatland Senior Centre followed by an evening of bridge. To sign-up, contact Marion Brown.
