Each summer the members of the Town and Country Women club tour places in Saskatchewan, and this year they went to the Burns House bed and breakfast between Pangman and Ogema.
It was named after the original owners. This four-bedroom house, which is a T. Eaton’s house, was moved by the Larsons from its original location north of Ogema.
The house needed extensive renovations, which took a number of years to complete. It has now been refurnished with antiques as well as modern touches. One outstanding item is a huge sideboard which came from Ireland years ago.
The hosts made the ladies feel welcome, and gave them a tour of the house and all the history connected with it.
They served the ladies lunch, complete with linen tablecloth and napkins, and beautiful china. The house has large day rooms, comfortable seating with large windows looking over the prairie landscape and sunsets.
The excursion was completed with a trip to Ogema where the ladies went to “Solo Italia”, whose owner is from Italy, and married a local girl from Ogema. He built his own pizza oven, where they demonstrated making pizza, complete with dough tossed in the air. Each of the ladies bought pizza for supper. The last stop before leaving town was a visit to a little second-hand shop.
