A farm crew drives a stook loader during harvest on a farm six miles south of Weyburn during the decade between 1910-1920. Shown are, from left, Carman Metheral, a Mr. Leavens (first name unknown), August Peterson and Tom Johnson; Carman is the father of current Weyburn resident Ron Metheral. The stook loader was driven by horses up the field and picked up stooks of grain, and threw them over to the hay rack, and the rack then met up with the threshing machine which would run the stooks through, in much the same way Metheral has demonstrated with a threshing machine at the Heritage Village Day in recent years. Weyburn is marking their 100th year as a city, and the Weyburn Review is marking this milestone year with a look back over the years, inviting readers to share any historical photos like this with our readers, to show people about life in past years as Weyburn developed into the community of today. Photos may be dropped by our office at 904 East Avenue, or e-mailed to [email protected].
