For the second time this week, a case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in the south region.

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health reported Friday that there were three new cases in the province, including the one in the south. One case is in the Saskatoon area, and the other is in the far north.

The location in the south was not disclosed by the Ministry of Health.

Nineteen cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the vast south region, which extends from the Alberta border to the west, to the Manitoba border to the east and the U.S. border to the south. Most communities south of Highway 1 are in the south region, and some areas north of Highway 1 in the western half of the province are also classified as being in the south.

Two cases in the south are considered active.

The provincial total for COVID-19 now stands at 663. Of the 663 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 23, or about 3.5 per cent, are considered active. A total of 627 individuals, or about 94.5 per cent, have recovered.

There is currently one person in intensive care in Saskatoon.
