ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) has laid impaired driving and assault charges against a man.
According to the Aug. 23 report for the EPS, members responded to a report of an impaired driver who attended to a home in the city. The suspect then assaulted a family member at the residence. Members arrived, arrested the man and transported him back to the police station, where the accused provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.
The man was charged and released the following morning on conditions of no contact with the victim.
Meanwhile, police received a report Aug. 22 of a domestic disturbance in progress. While on route, further information came in that it involved a landlord and tenant. Members obtained statements from most of the parties involved. The file is still under investigation.
Police were notified that a landlord had changed out the locks to the door of a residence without giving proper notice to the tenant. Police mediated the situation.
Two patrons were reportedly trying to start a fight outside a local bar. Police attended, but the parties involved had already left.
Four curfew checks were conducted on individuals in the city. Two of them were not in compliance with those conditions. The EPS says breach charges are pending against the pair.
Police responded to a report Aug. 23 of a lost, intoxicated female somewhere on Albert Street. She was located and transported back to the correct residence.
Officers received several reports of barking dogs throughout the night. Police patrolled those areas and no noise was noted.
Members conducted a traffic stop on a female driver heading home from a bar. She was displaying visible signs of impairment and was arrested and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for blood samples. The blood will be sent away for testing. She was issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension and a three-day vehicle impound.
Officers responded to a report of a male allegedly throwing rocks at a residence. The area was thoroughly checked and the EPS said the complaint was determined to be unfounded.
An intoxicated female was located in the parking lot of a local business. She was found to be breaching court-imposed conditions prohibiting the consumption of drugs and/or alcohol, and was lodged in cells for the night and charged accordingly.
Police attended a residence regarding a family dispute between a mother and daughter. Officers were able to mediate the situation.
Officers are investigating a report of an alleged domestic assault. The matter remains under review.
Police were called to St. Joseph’s Hospital on Aug. 24, where they, along with a member of the Police and Crisis Team, assisted a youth who was experiencing a mental health crisis.
A couple was arrested after breaching their conditional sentence orders. The pair failed to present themselves at the door of their residence during a curfew check conducted by police.
Another woman was arrested after a curfew check revealed she was not at the location specified in her conditional sentence order documents.
In another incident, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male stumbling around in public. Upon locating him, it was determined that his level of intoxication required immediate assistance. He was arrested and taken into custody, where he remained until he was sober enough to be released.
Police mediated a domestic disturbance in the south end of the city. One of the parties involved agreed to leave for the night to prevent further problems.
