ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service says its members were kept busy with calls for service on Aug. 20, including people who were reported missing, suspicious persons, property offences, parking complaints and a motor vehicle collision.
Police, along with the Estevan Fire Rescue Service and EMS, responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of King Street and Spruce Drive in northeast Estevan. One driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with what the EPS said were "minor injuries". Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. The EPS said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors but the collision remains under investigation.
A 13-year-old male was reported missing after not returning home from the evening before. Police assisted the parent to contact friends and family of the youth, who was later located safe and well at a friend's residence in Estevan.
An intrusion alarm at a south-end business was attended to by EPS members and determined to be false.
Several suspicious people were reported to be at a storage business in the west end of the city. Members attended and spoke with two individuals who had keys to one of the storage units. No criminal activity was detected during the investigation.
Two individuals were reported to be staying in a tent on city property in south Estevan during night shift. Contact was made with the individuals and they were directed to have the tent removed by the following morning.
