Four Saskatchewan students recently received funding to help pursue their future agricultural education. Agriculture Minsiter Lyle Stewart awarded $10,000 in scholarships.
“It is encouraging to see the passion these youth have for the agriculture industry,” said Stewart. “They will play a significant role in continuing our stewardship and sustainability story for future generations.”
Grand prize-winner Sheldon Daniel from Avonlea will receive $4,000 for his video submission explaining how technological advancements help the agriculture industry feed a growing population.
“Agriculture is so diverse with many opportunities,” said Daniel. “I see so much potential for my future in the industry.”
Runner-up scholarships of $2,000 were awarded to Autumn Lawson of Rose Valley, Kaitlyn Kitzan of Theodore and Hailey Harms of Prince Albert.
“I want to congratulate these winners and thank all of the applicants for pursuing a career in agriculture and for being AGvocates in their communities,” said Stewart. “I wish you all the best as you continue in your education and enter Saskatchewan’s dynamic agriculture industry.”
Applicants were required to provide a letter of reference and submit a 1,000 word fact-based essay or a three minute video highlighting agriculture’s stewardship story.
