One of the oldest Terry Fox Runs in the area is coming up again, and runners, walkers, and supporters are asked to start getting ready for the annual event.
The Kenosee Lake Terry Fox Run is now in its 25th year, making it one of the longest running Terry Fox Runs in the region.
For its quarter-century year, the steadfast Jackie Doty is co-ordinating the run, which takes off in the community of Kenosee Lake.
"Last year we started the run at a different location then we are starting it at this year," Doty said. "One of the nice things about having the [provincial] park right here is it gives us the option to change up the route a bit from year-to-year."
"We have had some great support over the years that Kenosee Lake has been holding the run," Doty said. "So changing up the direction the run follows is important to keep it fresh for the runners who have been coming back to support the run every year."
Last year, 13 participants took part in the Terry Fox Run at Kenosee Lake, and more than $2,800 in donations were raised.
The run this year will be taking place on Sunday, Sept. 19.
"We have had some great support over the years, and we are hoping to see that again this year," Doty said. "It is an important issue, the fight against cancer, and I think most people have felt it somewhere through someone in their life."
Registration for the Kenosee Lake Terry Fox Run will begin at Marie's Café at 10 a.m.
