Arrests made for theft and breaching conditions

Police received a call about a gas drive-off from a service station during the Sept. 29 night shift. Officers located the vehicle later in the evening when it was operating with inadequate tail lights. The driver refused to supply a breath sample for a roadside screening device and was arrested. He faces charges for refusing the breath sample, for theft under $5,000 and for having inadequate tail lights. He was also held in custody until he was sober.

A 38-year-old male was arrested later in the evening for breaching the conditions of his release. He had been released from custody only eight hours earlier in the day when he was found to be breaching his conditions. He was arrested, held in custody until he was sober and taken before a justice of the peace. 

Officers executed two arrest warrants during the night shift. The first was for a warrant from the Yorkton area. The man was released with a new court date. The second individual was from the Estevan area. He was also released with a new court date.  

Police received a call during the Oct. 2 night shift about a woman who was intoxicated and lost in a residential area. A search of the area was handled by police and the intoxicated woman was located unharmed. She was then taken home and no further police action was required.

Members were called to several fight complaints at a local business during the Oct. 3 night shift. Upon police arrival, the altercation had broken up and the parties in question had left the scene. The complaints remain under investigation. 

Several tickets were issued to individuals who had open alcohol outside a licensed premise. The fine under the Alcohol and Gaming regulations is $250.

Police were alerted to a suspicious person who was looking into vehicles in the city’s north end during the Oct. 4 night shift. Police checked the area and located a 17-year-old Estevan male. The matter is under investigation.

Members were later called to the city’s east side on a report of a single vehicle accident. Police attended and found an 18-year-old Estevan male had lost control of the vehicle and hit a street light. The motorist was charged with driving at a speed greater than what is reasonable and safe. He faces a fine of $175 for the charge.

Police also received several false alarm calls throughout the evening.
