Emily Geisel, a member of the Benson 4-H Beef Club exhibited her steer at the 2016 Regina Spring Steer and Heifer Show in late February.

The Regina spring show is aimed at young people who are involved in the cattle business and Emily’s contributions to the Benson 4-H Club’s programs over the past few years have been documented and dotted with success on a number of occasions.

The annual show brings in young people from Alberta and Manitoba, as well as Saskatchewan, along with their steers and heifers.

This year the entries totalled over 200.

The young participants are required to participate in judging competitions, including written and oral explanations and showmanship classes.

The event also includes a Spring Steer committee that offers coaching experience to assist the young people in refining their ring and preparation skills.

The Regina show is a four-day event that features some intense competition as well as the learning opportunity.
