On Feb. 21, we competed among each other and gave a speech on a topic of our choice. Some of the topics that were selected were about boys, favourite camping spot, family farm, Legos and cellphone use.
The top two placings in each age group have the opportunity to compete at the District competition in Midale.
Our winners were: Cloverbuds: Brody Walter, first; and Keaton Walter, second.
Junior: Mason Mack, first; and Lindsay Mack, second.
Intermediate: Ashley Tedord, first; and Nigel Mack, second.
Senior: Lorie Tedford, first; and Rachel Mack, second.
We also send a big thank you to Lakyn Hilstrom and Brenda Lyons for judging our speeches.
The Regina Spring Steer and Heifer Show took place from Feb. 25 to 28 and congratulations to Emily Geisel who won the Grand Champion Steer Award.
Thank you Lorie Tedford for sharing your farm safety speech at the Farmer Appreciation evening. Congratulations to the Dunnigan Family for winning the Farm Family of the Year Award.
Congratulations also to Brody Walter for placing first at the District public speaking competition (Cloverbuds). Good luck in Melville at the Southeast Regional Speaking Competition. Ashley (Tedford – Intermediates), placed second at Districts, but will not move on, but still, a great job!.
Spring is in the air and our club has a few fundraisers coming up. The first is the District barbecue at Peavey Mart on April 9.
We will also be serving at the Western Horse Sale in May and at the Mack Auction consignment sale in June.
Other than discussing business in March, we also played a jeopardy game on Parliamentary procedures and running a 4-H meeting.
