Weyburn Comprehensive School is hosting the Canadian Student Leadership Conference in two months. This conference, the first national conference to be hosted in Weyburn, is from September 25 to 29 inclusive. Although that may seem like a fair distance away, organizers have been working diligently for months to make sure the conference is successful in every way.
One way Weyburn residents can help make the conference a success, is by billeting some of the 641 students who will be arriving from all over Canada. So far homes have been found for about one-third of the students.
Families may billet two or more students from September 25 to September 29. The students will require breakfast as well as transportation to and from the conference each day. As well, they will need supper on Friday. Students are at the conference from eight in the morning until evening. They can share a bed.
All Canadian provinces will be represented by the students attending. These students are leaders in their schools, teenagers who are learning to take action to build stronger communities. At the conference in Weyburn, they will learn invaluable skills and will make lasting connections with other students from across Canada.
Their experience can be made more memorable if you open your home to them. In return, you and your family will get to know these teens and will know that you are one of the links to providing western hospitality and a Weyburn welcome.
Those wishing to billet students may pick up forms at Superior Office Products or at the service desk of the Weyburn Co-op grocery store. Anyone having questions about billeting may contact Brenda King at 842-5296.
