BUFFALO POUND LAKE — Around 6:30 a.m.Tuesday, the missing teen at Barney’s Beach near Buffalo Pound Provincial Park was located deceased by a member of the public in the water near the shoreline in the area where he was last seen.
RCMP say, “His family has been notified and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”
The teen went missing in the water on Friday. At approximately 5:30 p.m. Moose Jaw RCMP received the report of an unaccounted-for swimmer at Barney’s Beach. RCMP say investigation indicates five teenagers were walking and swimming in the water when the wind and waves swept one of them out into the water.
RCMP say they wish to thank members of the public who respected the directions and instruction of first responders over the last few days during the ongoing search.
While police, search and dive teams were in the area, the public was asked to avoid Barney’s Beach and to respect all directions given by first responders in the area.
Moose Jaw RCMP, Moose Jaw Search and Rescue, STARS Air Ambulance and conservation officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch all attended the scene.
