The City of Weyburn announced on Thursday that the Winterfest plans for Saturday, Feb. 8 are cancelled due to forecasted temperatures which would make staying outside for a long time dangerous.
The city has tentatively rescheduled Winterfest for Saturday, Feb. 22. This date or another will be confirmed if and when all the people needed for the event have confirmed they are available.
"We're fairly certain we'll be able to reschedule it so all the work won't be for naught," said Katelyn Struthers, manager of Parks Services.
Winterfest was set to feature broomball, horse-drawn sleigh rides, cross country skiing, outdoor curling, a bonfire, music and more.
The Rotary Club of Weyburn was going to offer a chili and a bun lunch for $3 with all the proceeds being donated to Tatagwa Parkway.
The Parade of Lights was also cancelled this winter because of extreme cold.
