City of Weyburn to close all public facilities as of Tuesday

As the City of Weyburn continues to keep up to date on the COVID-19 pandemic, City of Weyburn leaders have made the decision to close leisure facilities and suspend arts and cultural programming effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020 .

Until further notice, all City of Weyburn leisure facilities will close tomorrow, including the Weyburn Leisure Centre, Soo Line Historical Museum and Crescent Point Place/Tom Zandee Sports Arena.

In collaboration with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, city officials are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to evaluate when the facilities may reopen.

The Southeast Regional Library, Including the Weyburn Public Library, will also be canceling all programming, events, and classes effective immediately. Southeast branches will stay open with basic library services. 

City Hall will remain open for residents wishing to conduct resident and business transactions and to access payment services. However, residents are encouraged to use online payment services as much as possible. The regular city council meeting scheduled for Monday, March 23 at 5 p.m. will proceed as planned.

If anyone has symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing and have traveled outside Canada or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, they should stay home and call HealthLine 811 or check the website at https://www.saskatchewan.ca/…/accessing-health-c…/healthline.

The City of Weyburn will be adhering to these measures as their top priority is the health, safety and well-being of the community and their employees. The City is focused on maintaining city services.

The Province of Saskatchewan has also announced all classes in Saskatchewan schools from pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 will be suspended indefinitely, effective on Friday, March 20, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.
