The Weyburn Police Service responded to a report of a fight at a local pub on Sunday. Upon attending they found a 22-year-old male victim unconscious on the ground and appearing to have suffered significant head trauma.

Upon attending they found a 22-year-old male victim unconscious on the ground and appearing to have suffered significant head trauma. This person was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital where he subsequently regained consciousness and refused treatment. He wasthenlodged in cells for being drunk. The investigation revealed that this person instigated a confrontation with a 21-year-old male. As the result of the altercation and because of the nature of the injuries received by the victim the 21-year-old has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. The victim, having been the instigator of the altercation, was issued a ticket under the Fighting Bylaw.
The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a theft of property from the U.S. postal system on Oct. 7. As a result of the investigation a 32-year-old male has been charged with possession of stolen property and will be making a court appearance.
Police received a complaint of the theft of property from a local convenience store on Oct. 8 around 12:40 a.m. A male in his mid 60's, long grey hair and driving an older mid-1980's model Burgundy Chev extended cab pickup truck was observed to have removed some property from the store.
Anyone having information about this theft, or who may be able to identify the suspect or vehicle is asked to contact the Weyburn police or Crime Stoppers.
City police received a complaint from a 38-year-old female regarding a telephone fraud scheme on Oct. 11. In this scheme the victim reported receiving a phone call from a person identifying himself as a member of the RCMP who was assisting the Canada Revenue Agency in a file. The victim was told that if she paid a sum of money owing the matter would be concluded.
The Weyburn police wish to stress that at no time do the RCMP or other police agencies of the CRA operate in this manner and any such call should be taken as suspicious.
Weyburn police responded to a two-vehicle collision on First Avenue NE at Fifth St NE on Oct. 7 around 1:20 p.m. Both vehicles had been travelling east on First Avenue when the lead vehicle driven by a 45-year-old male apparently stopped abruptly. This resulted in a collision with the trailing vehicle being driven by a 16-year-old male. Minor injuries were sustained by the 45-year old driver. No charges are being considered.
Again on Oct. 7 at about 1:22 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle/pedestrian collision on Souris Avenue. A 70-year-old male was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 20-year-old male driver has been charged with driving without due care and attention.
City police received a report of a theft of property from a local apartment complex on Oct. 9. The complex was undergoing renovations and some carpet had been left in a common area to be installed the next day.
Again on Oct. 9, police responded to a report of someone having damaged a fire alarm at a local hotel. The investigation revealed that the fire alarm had been going off sporadically when a hotel patron physically removed the alarm from the wall and cut the wires, thereby disabling it. The suspect is a 29-year-old male who has been tentatively identified but not yet located.
City police conducted a traffic stop on Oct. 10. As the result of the stop a 20-year-old male was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and driving over .08. A 19-year-old female passenger was also arrested and has been charged with a breach of her court conditions. Both will be making respective court appearances.
Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Oct. 10. The vehicle was subsequently located. A 36-year-old male was arrested and has been charged with driving while impaired and driving while over .08.
Weyburn police received a complaint of an assault on Oct. 10. The investigation led police to a 14-year-old male being charged with assault on a 13-year-old male victim. The accused will be making a court appearance.
An altercation occurred outside on Oct. 12 at a local establishment. After the incident was concluded the patrons returned inside at which time the victim discovered that the wallet he had left on the table was missing. Just prior to the incident a stranger had been sitting at the table.
Police are looking to identify and locate this individual who is believed to have been driving a 2002 to 2006 model White Chev pickup truck with partial British Columbia licence containing '752'.
The Weyburn police along with Weyburn Fire responded to a fire at a local business on Sunday morning at 9:20 a.m. The business suffered moderate damage from smoke and water. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Weyburn Fire Department but is not believed to be suspicious.
