City police investigate accidents

City police were called to investigate an alleged assault by a female who was walking two dogs and approached a vehicle and assaulted an occupant on Saturday. The matter is being investigated.

As a result of a previous complaint where a vehicle was located damaged and abandoned in the city on Sunday, a male from Mainprize was arrested and charged with impaired driving and failing to report an accident.

Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on Fifth Street on Saturday. A suspect vehicle had struck a fence and left the scene. The driver was later located and charged with driving while over .08 and suspended driving. He will appear in court in November.

Police were called to a local bar to investigate a report of a dog being left in a vehicle on a hot day on Aug. 28. Police found that the dog did have air circulation and water. The owner of the dog was advised of the concern.

Police were called to a local bar regarding a disturbance on Friday. The matter was mediated.

Police were called to a downtown bar to assist with an injured male on Saturday. The male who was intoxicated had fallen. He was taken home after being looked at by EMS.

Meantime, the Milestone RCMP are investigating a fatal collision five kilometres north of Milestone on Sunday, involving an Avalanche and a semi-trailer hauling pipe.

The driver of the Avalanche was a 16-year-old male from Moose Jaw, who was declared dead at the scene; the semi driver was 53 years old from Edmonton, and was not hurt. An accident reconstructionist was on the scene to determine the cause of the collision. The name of the deceased was not being released at this time.
