Weyburn police discovered what is believed to be a hit-and-run collision with a light pole at the intersection of Moore Street and Sims Avenue at about 9 a.m. on Monday. There was considerable damage done to the pole and vehicle debris found at the scene. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2010 Chev Silverado and should have considerable damage to the rear of the vehicle.
Weyburn police received a call reporting what sounded like gunshots in the area of Eighth Avenue South at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Within a short time what appeared to be spent fireworks were discovered in the same area. We wish to remind residents that the setting off of fireworks anywhere in the City is prohibited by bylaw.
City police received a report of harassing communications between two people on Wednesday. The people were spoken to and the matter mediated.
Police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 500 block of 13th Street regarding a noise complaint at about 1:45 a.m. on Thursday. The tenant was spoken to and turned the music down. We wish to remind everyone that under the provisions of the Noise Bylaw excessive noise can be an issue at any time of the day, but certainly after 11 p.m.
City police received a complaint regarding two youth who appeared to be causing damage to property on the Comp School grounds at about 6:10 p.m. on Thursday. The youth were located and it was determined that the matter would be dealt with by the parents and the property owners. There was no need for further police involvement at this time.
Weyburn police were called to assist with what appeared to be a dispute between two people in the parking area of the hospital at about 7 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival the police determined that one of the people was in need of a medical assessment and assisted without further incident.
City police received a complaint regarding a vehicle being driven erratically almost striking a person and also causing damage to property at about 9 p.m. on Friday. As a result of the investigation police arrested a 36-year-old multiple repeat offender who has been charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08.
