City police attended to a downtown business that reported damage to their building on Mar. 4. It was revealed that a vehicle had run into the building the night before causing damage, and left the scene. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a complaint of theft of tools on Mar. 4. The tools were stored in a garage on the north side of town when they were taken. The matter remains under investigation.
Police received a report of a hit-and-run on Mar. 8 which had occurred in the 100 block of First Avenue. The complainant had observed a white Ford truck back into his parked car and then leave the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Railway Avenue on Saturday. The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment and was taken to the Police Station where he blew over .08. The driver was charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08 and will be appearing in court in April.
City police responded to an accident involving a city grader and a parked vehicle on Mar. 4. The grader was doing snow removal and clipped a parked vehicle. The owners and operator were directed to report to insurance.
Police received a complaint of a vehicle damaged by having the front windshield broken on Saturday. The vehicle had been tarped as it was parked in the 700 block of Fifth Street North when someone had thrown a garbage can into the front windshield. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation into this incident continues.
Police attended a local business to investigate a report of a fraud against the business by a customer on Mar. 6. The investigation continues into the matter.
Police attended an accident at the intersection of Highway 39 and Government Road on Mar. 7. There were no injuries. One driver was charged for failing to stop for a red light.
While on patrol on Mar. 7, members of the Weyburn Police Service witnessed a two-vehicle accident at the corner of 16th Street and Warren Avenue after a vehicle was unable to stop and rear-ended a stopped Ford truck. The driver of the Ford truck suffered minor injuries, and the damage required one vehicle to be towed from the scene.
Police responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Mar. 8 after an individual who was backing out of his driveway collided with a pay-loader which was cleaning the streets.
There were no injuries and damage was minor.
Police attended an accident on Highway 39 involving a vehicle that struck a deer on Mar. 5. The deer had to be destroyed by the police because of the injuries resulting from the accident.
Police received a complaint of a hit-and-run accidents to two different vehicles which were parked by a residence in the northeast area of the city on Mar. 5. There are no suspects and the incident remains under investigation.
Police received a complaint from a victim of a fraud on Mar. 5. The individual had prepaid for a service and then did not receive the service. After a short investigation it was determined to be a civil matter. The individual was informed of how to initiate a small claims action.
In the early morning hours of Mar. 5, police were called to a local bar to remove an intoxicated patron. The individual was taken into custody, where he was lodged in cells until he was sober.
Police attended to a family disagreement on Mar. 6. One of the individuals had left the home and with weather conditions created some concern. The individual was located by police and returned home.
On Mar. 6 at 7 a.m., police attended to a parking lot in front of a local business to remove a drunken individual that was passed out. The drunk was taken home.
City police received a complaint of mischief done to a vehicle that had been parked in the 300 block of 18th Street on Mar. 6. There were no suspects identified to police. The matter is still under investigation.
On Mar. 6, police entered into a joint investigation with Social Services around allegations of physical abuse directed a child from the parent. The matter is still under investigation.
A fire alarm was received from a residence in the 800 Block of Souris Avenue on Mar. 8. Police along with the fire department attended and located a power box which had shorted out causing a minor fire. SaskPower attended. There was minor damage and no injuries reported.
Police attended to a northeast residence on Mar. 8 after receiving 9-1-1 calls from the occupants who stated there was a man yelling at them and they felt threatened. Police attended and located an individual who had been drinking and was causing a disturbance.
The situation was resolved and the individual who was causing the commotion was taken home by a friend.
In the early morning hours on Saturday, police responded to a fight in progress in the 300 block of Third Street involving four individuals. Police separated the individuals involved and tried to determine what had transpired. The individuals involved were not cooperative and the assault allegations remain under investigation.
