Saskatchewan had four new cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 353 on April 26. Three out of the four new cases were in the north of the province and one came from the Regina area. Sixty-one of the 353 cases in the province were considered active. Recoveries remained at 288 people.
There were five people in hospitals across the province on April 26, along with three people receiving inpatient care. Two people were in intensive care.
Of the 353 cases in the province, 138 cases were travellers; 148 were contacts or linked to mass gatherings; 35 had no known exposures; and 32 patients were under investigation by local public health.
In Saskatchewan, 38 of all cases were health care workers. Yet, the sources for those infections weren’t related to health care in all instances. A total 150 of the cases originated from the Saskatoon area, 74 from the Regina area, 68 from the north, 15 from the south, 11 from the central region and 35 from the far north.
Age-wise, 29 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, while the remainder were adults. A total of 126 cases were in the 20-39 age range; 120 in the 40-59 age range; and 67 cases were in the 60-79 age range. Eleven COVID-19 cases in the province were in the 80-plus range.
In a sex breakdown, 51 per cent of the cases were males and 49 per cent were females.
Four deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date in Saskatchewan. To date, 27,884 COVID-19 tests were performed in the province.
