An outbreak was declared for the Weyburn Special Care Home on Sunday, December 27 by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

As of Dec. 27, three individuals, including residents and staff members, have tested positive for COVID-19, and by Dec. 29 this was updated to six COVID cases.

The statement was issued on behalf of Christina Denysek, Executive Director Continuing Care – Integrated Rural Health.

As of the last update on COVID cases, issued on Dec. 29, there are 208 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Dec. 29, bringing the provincial total to date to 15,022 cases. On Dec. 28, there were 94 new cases, and on Dec. 29, there were 114 new cases.

Of the 15,022 cases, 3,191 cases are considered active, with 101 active cases in the southeast region. A total of 11,680 individuals have recovered, including 405 new recoveries as of Dec. 29.
