The Women of Today Awards are known in the community as an opportunity to recognize women’s contributions to the workplace, the business world, the classroom and the community, but this year organizers took it to another level.

Numerous certificates were handed out to other women during the ceremony, including Creighton Lodge volunteers Margaret Mack, Doreen Dirks, Marge Heidinger and Jean Delorme.

Lorelei Lachambre, who was the emcee for the event, read a letter from Creighton Lodge that recognized the four women.

“The four ladies … are all faithful and dedicated ladies in the volunteer department,” said Lachambre. “These ladies go above and beyond every time they come to the lodge to volunteer. We have our monthly resident birthday party on the second Thursday of each month, and these four ladies show up with energy, smiles and an attitude that is ready to create some laughter in the lives of our seniors.”

On the fourth Thursday, they serve Kentucky Fried Kitchen to the residents. They also clean up after supper and help the residents settle in for some entertainment.

“Without these faithful four ladies, we wouldn’t have as much fun as we do on these nights.”
