Two fundraising events will be held at the Detour Bar and Grill on Thursday, May 19. A barbecue will be held in the afternoon and a steak night will be held in the evening.
There is also a possibility for a second steak night, if tickets for the first night are sold out.
The barbecue will be held in the parking lot of the Detour Bar on May 19 from noon to 3 p.m.
Due to a donation by Maurer’s Meats, they will be selling bacon cheeseburgers and a fountain pop for $15, with $10 from each burger going directly to the Canadian Red Cross.
There is no need to register for the barbecue, since residents are invited to come down to the Detour anytime during the event hours.
In case of inclement weather, the barbecue will be held indoors.
Then, for the evening, a steak night will be held at the Detour from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets for the steak night are available for $35 from the Detour Bar.
The ticket price includes an eight ounce steak, baked potato, tossed salad and one domestic alcoholic beverage. Those attending the steak night must be 19 years of age or older.
During the evening, $1 from all drinks sold will also be donated to the Red Cross relief efforts.
In addition for every person who reserves their attendance to the event, even if they have not purchased a ticket, Detour will donate $1 (up to a limit of $1,000) to the Canadian Red Cross.
Reservations can be made by calling the Detour Bar or by sending them a Facebook message.
It should be noted that Detour Bar can not guarantee tickets will be held without payment. But they will accept e-transfers or credit cards to hold tickets if someone is unable to purchase in person.
There will be a silent auction for the evening as well, and the Detour Bar is actively seeking donations. Interested businesses or organizations who would like to donate can send an email to [email protected].
The Detour Bar has created a Facebook event called “Fundraiser for Fort McMurray — Canadian Red Cross” where people can express their interest of attending, or find out more information about the fundraising event.
